Echodale

Protecting Fruit for the Local Market

Location: Tasman

Crop: Pears

Structure: Super Spindel with V System Hail Protection

Echodale approached Hortivate to provide a sustainable orchard structure solution for their new orchard development in the Motueka Valley. It was critical that their fruit was protected from hail, to ensure it reached the local market at the best level of quality - something Echodale have been known for through three generations.

Echodale used their own resources to install the structure, this proved cost-effective and helped to upskill their workforce.

Having an engineered structure made this possible, as there was no ‘guesswork’ involved during the installation.

“The concrete structure that Hortivate supplied us is not only easy to install, the quality of the product was perfect and it came all at the right time, on time.

What was really important about us for using Hortivate structure was that it was sustainable. It is environment friendly, and has proven engineering backing behind it. You know what load it can take, and it’s an easy-to-use product.

Bottom line - It's easy to install, it's easy to use, and it's actually really efficient”. Justin Wehner - Orchard Manager, Echodale
