One of Ngai Tukairangi's investment focus is providing for future generations, and the structure must reflect that commitment. Hence, a pre-stressed concrete was chosen – a structure built to outlast the lifetime of the orchard.
Preventing CCA leaching was crucial in maintaining soil health and fostering an optimal growing environment. At the end of its lifespan, the product remains fully recyclable and reusable.
The decision to fully cover this orchard with hail netting, which will commence in 2024, is a wise choice given today's changing climate patterns. Long-term thinking ensures that this block is future-proofed against biosecurity threats, including the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB).
